Mimi Gregoire Carpenter's muse is the ordinary scarred, stoic, Maine seashell - food for the gulls. Her detailed opaque watercolor paintings offer delicate portraits of Maine seashells, gathered and brought home from Goose Rocks Beach to her studio and given center stage. Imagine a moment on the beach, a childhood experience, a recent walk and respond to this rugged yet vulnerable environment, appreciating how magnificent even the most humble shell can be.
Sally Caldwell Fisher has gained International recognition with her artwork while portraying New England coastal life. She is constantly finding inspiration, and therefore, keeps an eye to the past. As an avid collector of antique photographs and reproductions, she finds herself constantly surrounded by captivating subject matter. Her sense of humor and instinct for capturing coastal life are a joy to behold. Sally also makes her home on the coast of Maine which is another source of inspiration.
Louise A. Frechette, P.S.A. has had five one-woman shows, nationally from Maine to California in the past six years. Museum exhibit invitationals include: The Presidential Library of George H. Bush, College Station, TX, The Attleboro Museum, Attleboro, MA, The Brickstore Museum, Kennebunk, ME, where her work is now part of their permanent collection. Her work is nationwide and carried in high-end galleries in four states from California to Maine. She is a signature member of the Pastel Society Of America, New York, New York.
Growing up, Hoyt didn't have to go far to be exposed to art. His mother was a professional portrait painter, working often at home in their dining room, and his father was a professional photographer. He was encouraged from an early age to indulge his inclination toward drawing, and taught how to take pictures and develop and print the results. Hoyt majored in fine art and studied under Swell Sillman and Richard Lytle at Yale. He later spent a few years in the Navy stationed in Italy where he was able to paint, doing portraits of two admirals and a portfolio of 25 paintings of "fleet activities."
Even at an early age, Lyman was involved in putting things together, such as designing and providing oversight in the building of the family hearth. His parents were very interested in arts and culture, and in that intellectual environment, he prospered. Lyman has over 40 years experience in sculpture. He graduated with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Sculpture from the University of Utah where he studied under Arvard Fairbanks and Angelo Carvaglia, learning classical sculpture techniques as well as contemporary design.
Jonathan M. Cartwright has been in the kitchen at The White Barn Inn Restaurant since 1994. He began as a sous chef and became executive chef in 1996. His talents were quickly recognized, and in the spring of 1999 Cartwright was invited to cook at the James Beard House in New York City, an honor accorded only to the country’s greatest chefs. The White Barn Inn Restaurant has had its share of honors, too, receiving the AAA’s Five Diamond Award consecutively since 1992 — a record in New England. The restaurant is also a Relais Gourmand, one of only 15 in the United States.
W. Scott Lee owns and operates Kennebunkport’s popular "Bandaloop" restaurant.  "Bandaloop" has become a local favorite for Scott’s use of organic and local foods, many vegetarian and vegan options, and an array of appetizers, entrees, and sauces to choose from.  Scott is baker and pastry chef as well, creating everything in house, from the organic bread and sauces straight through to the desserts.  Scott demands the highest quality organic ingredients, from flour and salt to free range chicken and all natural organic beef, for their flavors as well as their lessened impact on the environment.
Jeffrey A. Savage trained with James Beard Award Winning Chef Sam Hayward at Fore Street Restaurant in Portland Maine for 3 years.  He learned the art of using local organic and exotic ingredients.  Chef Savage prides himself on using the best possible ingredients from around the world, whether it be Matsutake Mushrooms foraged in the Maine woods or fresh Mediterranean Seppia flown in from Greece.  His love of excellent food and wine is exemplified in both the ever changing menu and wine list at On the Marsh Restaurant, a recipient of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.
John Shaw, the Executive Chef of the Port Tavern & Grille and a lifetime Maine resident, combines the use of locally Maine grown ingredients with a creative homestyle influence.  A graduate of the New England Culinary Institute, John began his career at the Kennebunkport Inn as an intern, rotating through a variety of positions before assuming the Sous Chef position and then the Executive Chef position.  He brings that wealth of experience and creative talent to the culinary team at the inn.
Thea A. Flanagan is a full time studio artist who uses acrylics and oils to create paintings of birds in various habitats, landscapes, and close-ups of natural environments. Many have described her work as a blend of pointillism, impressionism, and photo-realism. She has been juried into many national exhibitions and has received numerous awards for her paintings including First Prize for Region 1 in Arts For the Parks. Her work is in private and corporate collections worldwide.
Tim Flanagan's paintings are based upon an emotional response to the Yin and Yang of light's fluidity, the stillness and the motion, the light and the dark. Through the use of glazing with acrylic colors, Tim often works for weeks at a time in order to achieve the intense imagery that has become the hallmark of his work. His work has been nationally recognized in the 1996 book "The Best of Acrylic Painting" by Rockport Publishers. His paintings continue to be juried into both national and international exhibitions, and they are being collected with an ever growing sphere of individuals and businesses.
Holder of a PhD. in English, Gloucester painter Charles Movalli uses dramatic brushwork to capture the essence of a scene. A student of Emille Gruppe, Movalli has received more than fifty awards for his vibrant work. He has been a contributing editor to American Artist magazine, for which he eventually produced over 70 articles on art and artists. His writing was not restricted to this publication. His articles have appeared in Southern Accents, Southern Boating, and in The American Art Review.
Dennis is proud to have joined in the tradition of the many artists who have visited and painted the beautiful vistas that Maine has to offer. In that time he has learned the colors and subtleties of the state through workshops done with Caleb Stone and Guy Corriero. Dennis has also studied with Steve Quiller of Creede, Colorado and Mel Stabin. He teaches art privately and this past Fall semester a beginning Watercolor Class at Heartwood College of Art in Kennebunk, Maine. Dennis is a member of the Art Guild of the Kennebunks.
Dale Ratcliff is a graduate of the University of Maine and she also studied with Howard A. Curtis. Some of her awards include the "Aldro Hibbard Award" (NSAA), the "Carl Peters Prize" (RAA), the "Sharon Ortlip Award" (Salmagundi Club), the "Juror's Choice Award" (AAA) and the "Silver Medal Award" (RAA). Her work appears in the book The Best of Acrylic Painting. A feature article about the artist appeared in the September '91 issue of the American Artist magazine. Dale Ratcliff's colorful paintings are characterized by lively brushwork and strong design.
Renowned for his firsthand knowledge of trains and railroads, David Tutwiler is considered to be one of the leading exponents of railroad art in the United States today. His artistic technique, coupled with his eye for accuracy and attention to detail, result in paintings that virtually sparkle with warmth and sensitivity. David's works have been reproduced in various publications, including Railroad Magazine, and Trains Magazine, and they have been shown in museums throughout the United States.
Working in oil and watercolor, Liné specializes in floral-romantic New England Architecture, portraying the beauty of the region's old colonial homes. For over twenty years now, her paintings have been displayed in galleries throughout the United States, as well as in many distinguished exhibitions including the Mystic Seaport International Show, the Oil Painters of America's National Show, the Gregory Gallery's Marine Show and The Great American Artists Show.
The world according to Wade Zahares is often described as dreamlike, and somewhat unreal. In reality, Wade lives on a small farm in southern Maine, from which the rolling hills and whimsical landscapes of his pastels emerge. Since graduating from the Maryland Institute College of Art, he has gone on to illustrate four children’s books.  Window Music, his first book, was singled out by Time Magazine and the New York Times as among the very best picture books of 1998.
Originally from Leicester, England, Chef James Taylor got his start from cooking a lot of family meals. It was the love he had for “good, simple food...” that prompted him to attend the Culinary Program at Grand Rapids College in Michigan. He finished his formative training under the direction of the famed Jonathan Cartwright, Executive Chef at the White Barn Inn restaurant in Kennebunkport. From there he was given the chance to become the Sous Chef at Stripers Waterside Restaurant in 2007 and looks forward to being the Head Chef for Stripers come 2008.
Sam is a Sicilian American chef from Charlotte, North Carolina, best known as a finalist and fan favorite on Top Chef. Sam received his education from Johnson & Wales University. After working his way up to production chef at Dean and DeLuca, he worked under James Burns, the acclaimed head chef at Charleston’s J. Bistro. In New York City, he has held the position of executive chef at several restaurants, such as the Black Duck, Williamsburgh Cafe, and Punch. Recently, Sam has been named among the top 12 sexiest NYC chefs.
Rebecca Charles started her cooking career in Manhattan, working her way up through the ranks in kitchen after kitchen. Throughout the 1980's Rebecca worked in Maine, where her family had been summering since 1917. In 1985, Charles received four stars as chef of Kennebunk's historic White Barn Inn.  Rebecca is the Chef/Owner of the famed Pearl Oyster Bar in NYC. In 2003 Rebecca chronicled her family's experiences in Maine and her time in the kitchen in the highly acclaimed memoir cookbook, Lobster Rolls & Blueberry Pie.

Joseph Schaffer has been Head Chef at the White Barn Inn since October 2006. Changing the menu weekly and seasonally has not only proven challenging for young Schafer but rewarding as well. “You get a chance to be inspired on a daily basis.  Taking my cue from Chef Jonathan Cartwright, I get the chance to implement New England Cuisine with a touch of European flair.” Previously Chef Schaffer was the Head Chef at Stripers Restaurant in Kennebunkport and spent time at other prestigious Relais & Cateaux properties.
Stephen True, the proud Executive Chef at the Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport, has been “cooking up” a creative spin on classic dishes at the historic, river front resort for the past five years. Steve has been fulfilling his life-long passion as a chef for more than 30 years while living up and down the east coast of the U.S. Among other publications, Steve was honored for his tantalizing cooking talents in the Miami Herald. He is well known for his strong ability to put a “Maine spin” on classic dishes such as his own Blueberry Maple Chipotle Barbeque Sauce while utilizing many luscious Maine ingredients.
Brian and Shanna O’Hea met as classmates and graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1998. Both gained early experience with Four Seasons Hotels (Shanna - Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Brian – New York City) and have served as private chefs in New York City (Brian - with a prominent French family and Shanna as assistant to Michel Boulard, former pastry chef to the King of Belgium and one of the City’s premier, private French chefs). Since 2003 Shanna and Brian have been the Chef ~ Owners of The Kennebunk Inn, recreating The Inn’s restaurant as Academe…Maine Brasserie and Tavern.
A member of the Guild of Boston Artists, Dennis has gained wide recognition for his ability to translate light into paint. The signature of a Perrin painting is always the light, regardless of subject. Most known for his paintings of flowers and the female figure, Dennis Perrin is also fond of the landscape, most notably the water-lily, ponds and estuaries throughout Southern Maine and Seacoast New Hampshire. A resident of York, Maine, Dennis has been a favorite of collectors at Mast Cove Galleries for 17 years.
Traditional artist Frank W. Handlen depicts ships, the sea and the Maine landscape in oil and pastels. As a young man he designed and built his own forty-foot, sixteen ton topsail schooner, The Saltwind, which is moored in the Kennebunk River. In 1994, he was commissioned to create the heroic bronze statue, Our Forbears of the Coast, that stands on the Kennebunkport River Green. Handlen was a Fellow of The American Society of Marine Artists, for 22 years. His pastels and oil paintings are extensively owned by private and corporate collectors.
